Dr Mikao Usui

I regularly practice Reiki, and maybe one day when time permits I will establish a centre or retreat where it can be studied, taught and passed on. But why have I included it on this website?

Well it is an important part of my own story and hopefully a warning to us all. There was a time in my life when I was very successful in my businesses, but I had neglected to ensure balance between home life and work life, and I feel my home life suffered as a result of that neglect.

Please understand that I am NOT suggesting everyone should study Reiki, and indeed I rarely mention it in my talks or training sessions.

What I AM saying is that a healthy life balance should be a priority on the goal list of everyone who is seeking to achieve more in their life.

I would add that an understanding of the energy channels and chakras in the body have helped me to have a better understanding of the ‘science’ behind the law of attraction, contributing to my strong belief in Universal Law.

What follows is a brief description of Reiki, if it is of interest to you. If not, please feel free to return to the main pages of the website.

The word Reiki loosely translated means ‘free passage of universal life force energy’.

Reiki is a natural system of energy healing. It is performed by placing hands on or near the recipient. The practitioner channels the Reiki energy through themselves and passes the energy through their hands in various positions over the body into the recipient. The energy neither belongs to nor is generated by the practitioner but is universal energy which surrounds us all. Thus there is no question of the energy transfer depleting the practitioner’s energy.

Once you have been attuned to Reiki your own energy channels are opened to the universal life force energy. You can think of this as being similar to tuning in a radio to the right frequency. The link to this energy will remain with you for the rest of your life, and at any time you can use it to treat yourself or others.

We all have some degree of the healing energy coming from our hands naturally but by using Reiki you can increase this level. The attunement process implants within you the ancient Reiki Symbols which are said to permanently restructure aspects of our energetic bodies.

Reiki works on all the levels of the body - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Thus Reiki energy can provide the body with the ability to heal itself.

Reiki is NOT a religion or a dogma and is not affiliated to any particular spiritual path. It will work for anyone and can do no harm nor be used for any harmful purpose.

All modern Reiki history stems from Dr Mikao Usui, who was a Christian Minister in Japan in the mid 1800’s. His studies in healing took him to Tibet, and the story goes that it was here on a pilgrimage to Mt. Koriyama in the Himalayan Mountains that Reiki (and the Reiki Symbols) were revealed to him during a fasting meditation.

He passed on what he was given, and towards the end of his life he initiated Dr Chujiro Hayashi as a Reiki Master. Dr Hayashi then later initiated Mrs Takata as a Reiki Master and so the teaching is passed down, from Reiki Master to Reiki Master, and all modern Reiki Practitioners today can trace their ‘lineage’ back to Dr Mikao Usui.

In line with most Reiki Masters around the country, a one hour Reiki treatment with me costs £50 (Note the initial session would take longer, as it would begin with a consultation interview prior to treatment).
